Very nice 1990s Red Caboose Motel & Restaurant Refrigerator Magnet

Donald M. Denlinger, founder and president of the Mill-Bridge Craft Village (now Mill Bridge Village Camp Resort), had just placed a half-hearted bid on nineteen 25-ton N-5 cabooses being sold as surplus from the Pennsylvania Railroad in the summer of 1969. Six months later, during a late January blizzard, he received a phone call that would change his life forever.

475 tons of steel is hard to move in a blizzard, and Denlinger faced many heartaches and red tape along the way. But he remembered that while circumstances seemed humanly hopeless, there is someone above who, when we get to the end of ourselves, will direct circumstances ahead of our mortal minds limited ability to comprehend. Proverbs 3:5-6 states, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Don was a believer and he drew heavily on his faith in the years that followed as he built the Red Caboose Motel & Restaurant on a parcel of land along the Strasburg Rail Road.

Hard work, sweat, perseverance and prayer paid off and the official grand opening and open house was on Mother’s Day 1970. In just five hours that Sunday, over 4,500 people toured the caboose units and got lost in the nostalgic dream that was The Red Caboose. Tens of thousands of travelers, rail enthusiasts and even locals have stayed since, making The Red Caboose Motel & Restaurant one of the most unique tourist destinations not just in Lancaster County, but in the United States!

Returns and exchange details

We do offer refunds on your purchases. In order to receive a refund, please email us prior to returning your item(s) so we may discuss your refund. The following refund conditions apply:

If you feel the item you received is "not as described" in the original listing, please email us with a photograph of the item you received: Once we review the photograph and determine the item is not as listed we will instruct you to: Mail the item back to us in the original box with all included packing material, within 10 days of receiving your item and we will issue a full refund via Etsy including the postage it costs to send it back to us.

If the item is damaged due to shipping: For all glassware items, please send photographs of the item, packing material and shipping container within 10 days of receiving the item. We must have these photos to file a claim with the shipping carrier. Also, please keep all the packing material, box etc., the shipping carrier may ask to see how it was shipped. For all other items, please send the item back in the original packing material and box. Once we receive the photographs, or item, we will issue a full refund via Etsy.

Had a change of heart and really don't want the item you purchased. Please send the item back in it's original condition (how we sent it to you), with tracking information, and we will issue a refund the price you paid for the item (shipping costs excluded)

All of the items in our Etsy shop have been found at; auctions, liquidations, garage sales, estate sales, consignments stores or online. All of our items are vintage or antique and are at least 20 years old. Due to the nature of the items we sell there will be signs of wear and in some cases damage. Smoking in homes was common place back when most of our items were originally purchased, so some items may still have a smoke smell to them. Do you recycle?

We sure do! We try to reuse package supplies as much as possible. Any cardboard boxes or bubble wrap that are in good shape are recycled. We do not, however, go seeking boxes. We only reuse ones that were originally packages sent to us. We do not reuse any items that were in contact with food items.

So if your order happens to come in an Amazon box ... that's us recycling!

If you purchase is for a gift and you would not like us to use re-cycled boxes just send us a convo.
